Keeping Jatiluhur Dam Running for Future Generations in Indonesia

Indonesia

Some projects are about building something new. This one was about making sure the old one doesn't fail.
Jatiluhur isn't just a dam. Built in the 1960s on the Citarum River, it's the beating heart of West Java — irrigation for over 240,000 hectares of rice fields, drinking water for Greater Jakarta, 187.5 MW of hydropower, and flood protection for millions of people living downstream. When a facility like this needs an upgrade, there's no room for second-guessing.

That's why they turned to us.

As part of the dam's refurbishment program, Arrowhead supplied BFGX Eccentric Butterfly Valves (Horizontal) DN800, engineered to fit into the system that has been running for nearly six decades. The old units were tired. The new ones had to fit the existing layout, meet modern performance standards, and withstand round-the-clock operation — all without disrupting the water supply to one of the most densely populated regions.

90 years of doing one thing — fluid control — builds a reputation. From our first Arrowhead brass valve in the U.S. workshop in 1936 to large-diameter industrial valves in a landmark Indonesian dam, our principle remains unchanged: Reliable. Proven. Trusted. Since 1936.

Every valve that delivers from Arrowhead eventually touches a community. A family turning on a tap. A power grid stays stable. A crop is getting the water it needs to grow. That responsibility isn't something we take lightly.
